Annoying? It Is…

Distractions

Oxford wordsmiths release to the wilds a list of their top ten most annoying sayings:

1 – At the end of the day
2 – Fairly unique
3 – I personally
4 – At this moment in time
5 – With all due respect
6 – Absolutely
7 – It’s a nightmare
8 – Shouldn’t of
9 – 24/7
10 – It’s not rocket science

I would have to add a couple there:

It is what it is: What? Could you please give me a more vapid response to any situation that you might be trying to fluff off? No? Well then. It is what it is.

That’s what I’m talking about: I’m sorry. I wasn’t listening. Probably because you need to punctuate your points with useless words and I trailed off…

Oh and TXT speak is officially a sign of trailer trash. Expensive Smart phones now auto-correct or fill that shit in so if you’re LOL-ing or telling me “L8r!” then stop being a lazy fuck.

I hate…”the reality is”…because what always follows is some stupid bullshit that for certain is not REALITY!

  2. Kezza

I think I need to be shot. I’m guilty of using a lot of the phrases on that list! Funilly enough though when other people use them it annoys me. Do you think there might me something wrong in the wiring of my grey-matter?

  3. Phronk

With all due respect, I literally barf every time I see these phrases. This is how I stay so skinny.

I enjoy calling things a nightmare when they’re really not so bad. But I think that’s more ironically poking fun at the phrase than really using it.

  4. SharkBoy

OH, you know how I feel about THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT… way up there in annoyance…
Another one that follows closely is the overuse of the word “basically” when explaining something… basically it gets on my nerves, basically.

  5. Vanyel

    *standing ovation*

Adding my favourite pet peeve “the fact of the matter is.” Every time I hear some politician using that, I just know I’m about to get covered in large drifts of bullshit.

  6. Evil Panda

I agree with “literally”, because I’m guilty of overusing that one too.

Whenever I hear “thinking outside of the box” I want to stab someone.

  7. Sorata

I will also add “literally” and “the bottom line is”. So over-used and so annoying. ๐Ÿ˜€
