I’m so sorry to hear the news. Please accept my condolences, and pass them on to the rest of your family too. Though I didn’t know your Dad well (he’ll be forever connected with seeing Star Wars for the first time, in my mind), I was always in awe of his courage to start a whole new life the way he did.

Thanks again, all. Thanks for the notes, emails and tweets.

Yeah it’s been hard but amongst the sad there are flashes of kindness from unexpected sources. Slips of the tongue leads to the darkest humour. At least one Aunt will say something shockingly inappropriate and we’ll laugh at it later.

All is well. All will be well. Right now kinda sucks though.

    Ted,

From reading your blog all these years it’s become very clear how much your father meant to you. I’m truly sorry for you loss.

I really have no other words. Be well, my friend.

Thank you all. I have to point out that SharkBoy has been my pillar during all this.

I recommend you hug/call/email/poke/twitter someone you love right now. Take a moment.

he was a good man and you are a good son. you loved one another and had a relationship that was clearly much more special and intimate than most could hope for. your grief is great, in part because what you had between you was so vital and so dear. in the future, the memory of these things will be very sweet.

should you need anything at all, at any time, please let me know. be well.

I’ll say a prayer for your Da and both of you tonight.

I was so sorry to hear about your Dad… please accept my sincere condolences. I passed the news on to Kirk D. and Eric B., both of whom knew Ed. Both got back to me, just to say how fondly they remembered your Dad, and what a very, very nice man he was. A great many others out there will always remember him the same way, and he will be greatly missed.

Oh my goodness, Ted, I’m so so sorry. I never met Da, but I felt like I knew him from what you’ve written over the years.

You’re in our thoughts and prayers.
