Boing Boing Jumps the Shark

General

Boingboing.net usually has some pretty cool stuff posted to it but lately I’ve found it’s become a bit too anti-DRM (I’ve only been reading the Sony Rootkit stories) and …well… a bit too slow on the cool stuff. I just got this across my feed:

Adustable Measuring Spoon – Clever! Cory Doctorow writes how these spoons are an “ingenious alternative to graduated measuring-spoons”. Thankfully there’s an update discrediting these super cool spoons as being “hard to clean” and awkward, no matter how much brushed metal and rubber the manufacturer uses.

Apparently Cory D needs to get out more. I’ve seen these in dollar stores last year.

Does anyone else have a new coolhunter site they can recommend?

agreed, boingboing is beyond useless for me. by the time they’ve posted it, the fad is over except for suburbanite sheep. their fascination with disney (ick) is vile, and i got more than a little ticked off by their nonsense in the runup to the election. slagging sam bulte was fine, but to exclusively attack only the liberal party was vile. when i wrote them about it, advising them that partisan sniping of the only party likely to keep the fascist bigots out of power was irresponsible and stupid, i got only a snippy email in return advising me they could say what they wanted. what a bunch of shortsighted assholes.

as for cool links, i think i do a better job of stumbling upon freakishness, and i don’t even brag about where i’m next shilling my dull little books or beg readers to vote for me in some dreary web popularity contest.
