A little help…?

Toronto

Does any Torontoite know of a store in Toronto that would sell a DUAL needle cartridge (DN 239) for a turntable?

I’m googled into a skewer.

My friend Alan did the most major vinyl to cd thing. If you want help, he’s the guy…Of course now all his cds are on iTunes…

I went in there at the beginning of this vinyl to cd adventure and he was somewhat helpful, mostly belligerent. But I think you’re right about him being Nash. He stayed hidden by his racks and racks of stuff the whole time I talked to him.

    or for anna: beligerent

Don’t know why I didn’t think of it earlier, but Ring Audio on Queen St. E., on the north side just past the opera house before Grant St., has all kinds of old refurbished stuff and Rob, the owner, might have some antique needles you might like.

I secretly think the guy is Nash the Slash my self but can’t prove it but you’ll get it if you go there.

and i agree that active surplus sucks ass now. i’ve only been in there the once since the downsizing, and there’s nothing worth stealing in there now.

i’ll second bay bloor radio, but search for ‘dj supplies’ rather than ‘turntable’ or ‘record player’ and you’ll probably get more returns.

Well thank you Peter, but since they downsized Active Surplus to that small place one floor up, the appeal to go in there and explore has evaporated like a fart under a bedsheet.

if you call soundscapes, or rotate this someone there might be able to point you in the right direction. i’m not sure about soundscapes, but i know rotate sells vinyl.

    good luck!

Well you see, Billy, back in the days of country and western music, a magical tribe of Doctors called DeeJays used to create music by blowing air into a sea urchin. The urchin would expell air through it’s bum and people’s heads would turn while they ate at the dinner table.

Hence, The Basalmic region of Spain.

I’ve found a couple online places, all in the US, but I will certainly give Bay Bloor a try.

    Thank you, my precious butterflies.

My friend Alan Zweig, filmmaker of Vinyl replies:

“Um, my knowledge does not extend to the specifics of manufacturers and product numbers but if I wanted a cartridge, I’d go to, I think it’s called Queen Audio but it’s on Queen Street on the south side, on the first block east of Bathurst around Suspect.  If not there, Bay Bloor Radio  sells a selection of turntables and so presumably cartridges too.”
