Black Eagle

Work

I got the call last night that the Eagle has acquired themselves a new Promotions manager that may or may not be able to update their website and create posters. I was finally (again, for the third time) cut loose from the bar.

I could see this coming a mile away.

Upset? No. I wish he had told me about it sooner, what with Disney coming up and all. But that’s par for course when it comes to the Eagle. They have a history of poor communication when it comes to staff. Ask andrew (if he still reads here…). When I had left three messages last week to see if there was any work to be done, as May came looming over the horizon, I sensed my time with them was up. It has been 10 solid years of on-again, off-again artistic employment.

That, my friend, is a lot of posters. I estimate somewhere over 1100. Not to mention folded calendars, magazine ads and other promotional items.

I have most of these posters on disk. My dream (which may become a reality if I can find a sponsor) is to hold a show of the best 50 or so posters, printed and mounted nicely and all proceeds go to Toronto PWA. After I come back from Disney, I will be approaching some people about this…

Stay ‘tuned!

Maybe you better go back and look. RSS feeds, tags and comments are available. Plus, Google indexes them so you’re bound to get someone looking at one of them.

    Yeah that’s my spelling!

Butchie, you might just find a girl in there… well, she’s manlier than me, but, she might just be of great service to you… If the washroom is too busy, ask for her… (not hard to find, she’s the only girl there)

Spearhead has a great website. It would be nice if bars would put that much effort into it.

Since getting the site “back” about 16 months ago, I had one disk of pictures (for the Mr Black Eagle contest) given to me but I was locked out of the gallery admin pages. No response from the web host guy.

I got May calendar this morning. I will be doing the last update in the next 24 hours.

Just looked at the Eagle site to see the calendar for May-nothing up yet. Never any updates to the galleries. Is it expensive to maintain the site?

The middle one. I have been relieved of my duties for now. I’ll find out if this new guy can do it, but really, it’s monkey work.

    tee hee… “duties”

Excuse me if I’m dense or not reading betwixt the lines but did they want you to jump in and save their asses pre-vacation or did they call just to let you know that they have benched the need of your talent until further notice or realization that the new “talent” can’t actually what you could?

    Run – on.

I’m not a fan of Flickr. I find it slow and cumbersome. I’m more a Picasa/Google drone myself. Yeah yeah yeah – Evil Empire etc. In terms of web design and layout and options, I find Picasaweb more intuitive.
